Oregon Comic/Nerd Conventions left in 2021

Writer's picture: Sara TrueloveSara Truelove

It’s late August and I just started getting notified of conventions that are still planning to be held this year. How am I so late to the party! It’s been quite a ride and it’s far from over, but a couple events are on the horizon and maybe, just maybe, we’ll have a little social nerd interaction to look forward to.

No matter what you opinions are on whether or not the con should be happening here are a list of the Comic/Nerd Conventions happening in the rest of 2021

Rose City Comic Con

September 10-12 2021

Oregon Convention Center - Portland OR

Rose City Comic Con is the largest convention of the nerd variety in Oregon. It boasts great guests and panels. In 2019 they had Tim Curry and Will Wheaton. This year it looks like George Takai, Carl Weathers, Billy Boyd and others are slated to meet and great or host panels this year.

Masks required due to Oregon/Multnomah County Mandate, vaccination status not required at this time

Ory con

November 12-14, 2021

Jantzen Beach Hotel - Portland OR

Oregon’s longest running fan convention featuring science fiction/fantasy guests and panels. This was one that was suggested to my by my cousin. I am not sure how I missed it since it's been going on for over 30 years!

Portland Oddities

October 16, 2021

Oregon Convention Center - Portland OR

This is also not a normal comic/anime/fan convention. THis is an event dedicated to showing all the oddities and curiosities such as taxidermy, odd antiques, original art, crafted oddities and all things weird and bizarre. I found this event really interesting and thought that maybe some of you would appreciate it.

Geek Craft Expo

September 25 and 26, 2021

Oregon Convention Center - Portland OR

This event is a craft expo where exhibitors who create nerdy and fandom inspired crafts come and celebrate their craft. Here are some YouTube videos from last years event!

mask/vax details will be emailed to registrants one week prior to even

Kumoricon

This is Portland's main anime convention hosting special guests, cosplay contests, vendors/artist alley, as well as panels and viewing spaces.

If you had tickets to 2020 they are automatically transferred to 2021

It’s unclear based on their website what mask/vaccination requirements there will be for the event. Currently Oregon has an indoor mask mandate so it’s likely that masks will be required

Geek the Halls

Saturday November 27,2021 10 - 5

This Portland original nerdy craft fair is hosted by PDX Guild of Geeks. It looks to be a smaller event and is free to the public!
